Sen. Cantwell steps up

Washington Senator Maria Cantwell is a good Democrat and usually votes the "right" way on the issues. However, I've been generally unimpressed with her willingness to go the extra mile and step up. For example I was really disappointed in her vote and her speech when she voted to give Bush the power to go to war in Iraq. However, Cantwell stepped up this week and actively fought the drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). We lost the senate vote, but Cantwell isn't giving up. Getting it undone now will be a long-shot, but I'm glad she's continuing to fight. We (Democrats) are the minority now.
