Sunday night I watched the previous week's episode of Carnivàle and then Benjamin and I watched the new episode. That show is very dark but very good; I'm amazed at how HBO continues to break new ground. After that my husband sucked me in to staying up late and watching a dark and excellent film, Donnie Darko. It's a movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal (The Day After Tomorrow, The Good Girl) and his sister Maggie Gyllenhaal (Secretary, Mona Lisa Smile). The main character Donnie Darko is a troubled teenager having visions of a giant evil bunny rabbit that tells him to do violent things. It was a fascinating movie that I immediately wanted to watch again and have thought of several times over the last few days.
