Marine had cousin shoot him in the leg to avoid returning to Iraq

Recently a young Marine convinced his cousin to shoot him in the leg in order to avoid returning to Iraq. He had just returned from a 6 month stint there. Unfortunately he lied and said he was hit by random gun fire so now he's being charged with filing a false report. In addition, the Marines are "investigating the incident". Someone on a liberal email alias I belong to is saying his is a dishonorable coward but I think that is a rash and unnecessary judgment. We have no idea what this kid has been through and maybe the thought this was the only way to avoid returning to what he perceived as a hellish situation. He was clearly desperate to do something so extreme. Read the story MSNBC.com.

President Bush ended the war in May of 2003, correct? On those terms, American soldiers fighting in Iraq no
longer recieve compensation for their
bravery overseas, like they would if we were "At War".
