Benjamin and I started listening to this book in the car on our way to Leavenworth for my brother’s wedding. We’re listening to it using my iPod and iTrip (FM transmitter). Right before that we’d been listening to music on the iPod.
We were enjoying the story, but it was unfolding in a very unusual way, going back and forward in time a lot. This style is very difficult to track in an audio book. But, the narration and storytelling were good sowe just kept along with it. Later that evening I discovered something that explained the unusual unfolding of this story: my iPod was still set to random.
So, I started over from the beginning. ;)

Ok, that cracked me up! ha ha
I want to get something to listen to my iPod in the car, what do you recommend? Is it expensive? Sally
The iTrip FM transmitter works, but not well.I had a really hard time getting it to work initially because I couldn't find a station it would connect on. Finally we set it to internatinoal mode and have it connect on 87.9 FM. It works mostly, but there is sometimes interference and the rev of the car engine makes it whine like a TV set (the high pitched sound not everyone can hear).
If I were starting over, I would get a cable installed through someone like Magnolia Hi Fi instead. You buy the right parts for your car and stereo and they install it. It's basically a cable they plug into the back of the stereo and then they drill a hole and stick a little headphone cable out of the hole and you plug that into your iPod. The cost depends on your car and stereo. For mine they said it would be $40 in parts and another $40 in labor. That seems like a lot, but the FM transmitter is $50 so I suspect it's worth the $30 difference.
In my Bug I bought a new car stereo just so that I could listen to my iPod and it worked great! Then I got the Jetta and it doesn't have a place to plug in the iPod of course. SO frustrating. I would recommend having a cable installed also, I just need to wait until I can afford to do so. It is hard to once have it working great and now I don't. I really liked not having to drag CD's around with me!
